Mitch Nichols

Mitch Nichols almost had his Carlos Hernandes night yesterday. He could have scored 4. But let's face it, Hernandes has only had one Hernandes game. the rest of the time Melbourne were talking about how good he'd be if he was fit.

Mitch ripped the Adelaide defence open 4 or 5 times last night. He just couldn't score. He hasn't had a night like that before and he won't have another. This was his first preliminary final. Last year he got 111 minutes in one of the 2 semi's against Sydney. This year he has really stepped up.

When Mitch came into the team for Miller this year he added the will to win to the team. Last night Miller brought that, but too late.

Miller also had a great cameo last night. Nearly burst through Adelaide twice and won free kicks as well. Just last week he looked too injured to play. That is next year's challenge for Frank, playing both wide and narrow, with both Nichols and Miller on the park.

Keep going Mitch. It's all up for you.

The guys I watch with were very angry with Mitch as there were several times when he should have made a pass rather than take the shot himself. However I remember the days when you could not pay a roar player to take a shot, so no complaints from me.

The big question is, with Miller confirmed for next season, how do you fit them both in the team? Surely after this season niether would want or deserves to face a season of bench sitting?

Fozzie game Mitch a huge wrap for his performance on TWG tonight. He missed a lot of chances but he still got into all the right places.

I love charlie but i think Mitch should be allowed to play in his best postion and charlie may have to fit in around that.

well, charlie, with as much quality as he has, is not a 90 minute guy.

while he kept the roar going in the early rounds, things didn`t really click till nichols got a start. nichols has to start. and he isn`t a winger. he`s an attacking mid. play him down the middle.

i would be happy if charlie comes in at the 60 minute mark as a 2nd forward ...

The roar at one point was all Charlie
Mitch brings the team in.

soon it will be Reinaldo too.
He isn't really a winger either.

great second half of the season from nichols, i felt he pulled the roar front third together, by providing the link, while miller was the roar's front third...

commiserations john and gents

Thank you I appreciate your comments.

Sometimes when Charlie plays he seems to be the only player in a Roar shirt.

FFA have been telling junior coaches they want to develop playmakers in the Argentinian mold ie control the passes across the whole of the pitch - I have seen Mitch do this.

and he just got his first socceroos squad callup ...

hmmm, that really is looking like a traffic jam ... will the roar try to find a way to play miller and nichols together? will the roar try bringing miller off the bench? nichols wide right is nowhere as good as nichols down the middle ...

a full season like the second half of this one (with more consistency and a bit of improvement) and he could key the roar to a trophy, then move onto euroland ... maybe even for a bigger transfer than nik r did.

i`m gonna stop now. i thought the same kinda stuff about kruse a while back too.

Thanks Clayton san

My son and I have got to know Mitch. He is a stayer. Poor Robbie, he has a mountain to climb to get back in.

I think things may have happened too quick for Mitch to be thinking Europe. Plus I think the financial crisis will change all that.

Yes he can be part of the team that gets us to the ACL next year.
