Socceroos 2 v Bahrain 0 - showboat

Again it was Kewell who stood out as the player of the match. This time he created a goal for Mile S.

Holman had his chance with Kennedy injured. But neither he nor McDonald looked like scoring. It was the midfield that excelled. Puncuated by Mile and David Carney's - both from the lower English division - and by Jason Culina's bicycle kick into the side post (to set-up Carney's poach).

Where was Sydney - only 42,000 - Brisbane is Australia's No 2 football city - FFA time to move to Melbourne.

Actually 'Hannef' in the Melbourne Victory Forum showed these statistics:

Best Wallabies crowd v NZ 39,000
Best AFL in Sydney this season 32,000
Best NRL crowd for Centenary Test 35,000
Best Waratahs crowd this year less than 30,000
Best NRL club crowd less than 40,000

So maybe 40,000 watching the Socceroos on Sydney's coldest day is not too bad.

Cool stats Guido

But Brisbane or Melbourne's crowd would have been bigger. Sydney seems to have gone off sport. And that is most damaging to rugby league. Take out the Qld teams and that sport is gone.
