Football players do the right thing...

It was great to see all the moes for Movember. Yep I joined that. I understand at least as many men die from prostrate cancer as women do from breast cancer. But men do less about it. Beyong blue is also a great cause to support. So thanks all you football moes out their - it reminded me of the 1974 socceroos.

But on a serious note. Do any football players still smoke? A moe isn't enough of a filter if you smoke.

Zhang does. A pack a day to be exact.

Johnny Warren smoked a pack a day apparently. I bet there's a few, but it couldn't help in the modern game where even fine margins of fitness can be decisive.

I too was surprised to discover that Zhang smokes. I think it was Jeccy who broke that story for me.

As a (very) recent ex-smoker, I could almost forgive Johnny Warren his habit (it's a form of sublimation, after all). I wasn't really aware of this, being a returning fan, but all that "I told you so" stuff pumped out by SBS now has a whiff (sic) of preying on the dead. I was at bluetongue stadium for the Pre-season final against Adelade, and ended up puffing away at halftime about three yards from... Les Murray as he puffed away. His best mate. How would that feel?
As for Zhang, has anyone ever smoked Chinese cigarettes? Cheap and nasty, the type that really hooks you. Remember as well, smokers in China (like Greece and some other countries in the E.U)number up to 70% of the population.

He's not in the first team, is he? It can't help at the frenetic pace we play the game here.

Well actually Wayne The club described Zhang as the Asian David Beckham and we were expecting he to be scoring from half way and stuff like that...

He has been disappionting....

So like Romario, he was never expected to do much running anyway? I went to Jeccy's site and read her description - the guy sounded pretty alienated and out of place.

Funny really as there is a big Chinese population here... they could have made more of a fuss of him.. But you know I just think there were too many surprises (court cases etc).
